About Vespa Fly125
After tasting success with its first offering, the Vespa, in India, Piaggio is now looking to launch the Fly 125 scooter. The scooter segment in India is growing and certainly every manufacturer wants to field their offerings now. While the Vespa 125 featured retro styling the Fly 125 is modern and looks sporty and aggressive.
The Fly 125 is likely to borrow the 125cc engine from the Vespa. The engine is unlikely to be tweaked and might be available with similar power and torque figures as the Vespa. It is likely to compete with the Honda Activa 125, Suzuki Swish and the Access.
It will get telescopic forks at the front and hydraulic shock absorbers in the rear. The scooter will be equipped with drum brakes, although disc brakes might be offered as an option. The Fly 125 will slot below the Vespa 125 and is expected to carry a price tag of around Rs 50-55 thousand.
It is rumoured that Vespa has finished testing the scooter and it was earlier indicated that it will be launched in 2013. However, we expect it to be launched during the festive season this year once the company appoints more dealers in India.
