KTM Preview: Intermot 2016

KTM has been working very hard over the last couple of months, thanks to their multiple new projects. These projects are expected to help them hold on to the Europe’s fastest growing motorcycle company tag. While the Austrian maker has been tight-lipped about the upcoming products, we believe that some of them, if not all, will eventually make its way to Intermot 2016, which begins from tomorrow.

Most of us would know that KTM has been working on a new 800cc platform that will power a range of bikes – street naked, adventure and maybe a super sport. We’ve seen or heard about the first two, however, there has been no speculation on the super sport yet. The other major project KTM has been working on is updating its smaller naked motorcycles – the Duke range. And we think KTM will unveil the updated Duke range at Intermot. Why? Because Intermot isn’t as big as EICMA, so less media guys and less coverage. KTM would keep their new 800cc parallel twins for the EICMA because it’s an all new bike for them and they would want the entire world to notice.

The new Duke 390 which is already being tested in India gets a major aesthetic change. In fact, this new Duke 390 will look like its bigger sibling – the 1290 Super Duke. This new naked bike will also get a new TFT display from the 690 Duke. Other than displaying the usual ride data, the cluster will be integrated to the rider’s smartphone and also display GPS data. The switchgear has been updated too. Talking about the Duke 200, we’re expecting the same changes to be seen on this bike as well. However, when it comes to the performance for both the bikes, we don’t think there will be any increase as they already have the class leading figures.

We’re super excited to see the new KTMs and it looks like the next two months is going to be the best time for motorcycle fraternity. So stay tuned to BikeWale for complete coverage from Intermot 2016.
