BMW to add more retro bikes to its portfolio

According to international sources, German motorcycle manufacturer BMW will launch two more versions of the BMW R nineT. This move will help the manufacturer further increase the size of its retro bike portfolio.

Information from emissions certification paperwork in America shows that the 2017 R nineT line-up will include four models. Including the R nineT and R nineT Scrambler, there will be new ‘Pure’ and ‘Racer’ versions. According to the source, the R nineT Pure is expected to be at the bottom of BMW’s retro boxer range. It is expected to share the 110bhp, 1170cc air-cooled engine as the rest of the range and its suspension and brakes will be stripped back to keep the price low.

The Racer is expected to sit at the other end of the range. Styled as a homage to the R90 S, and looking rather like the Roland Sands Concept 90 of 2013, the motorcycle will feature clip-on bars, a small Imola-style nose cowl and a café racer-style seat unit. This motorcycle is expected to keep the price low using similar lower-spec suspension and some cycle parts.
