KTM to debut in Moto2 in 2017

KTM has confirmed that it will enter the Moto2 championship in 2017. The company is working on a Moto2 bike that’ll help it fight in this competitive battle. 

Stefan Pierer, CEO, KTM confirmed this development to SpeedWeek. According to him, this new team will be led by Aki Ajo, a former racer. Brad Binder and Tom Luthi will be the team riders for the debut season. 

While there are hardly any details on this project, it’ll be interesting to see how this new team performs, considering the fact that the chassis of the bike will be from KTM, whereas the engine is from Honda CBR600RR. As per contract, all Moto2 bikes are powered by this engine, which will end in the 2018 season. So for the 2019 season, Moto2 bikes will need a new engine supplier. KTM is currently busy with testing the MotoGP bikes and we’re quite eager to see it performing in the world’s fastest motoring race.
