Hero MotoCorp is going to introduce a dozen new models, including variants of existing bikes, in the next nine months. The company plans to counter threats from its former partner, Honda, by going aggressive with new product launches.
The forecast of a healthy monsoon promises a significant increase in demand for two-wheelers, and the company aims to make the most of this by updating its line-up. While most of the new launches would be revamps for the existing modes, it will also include a brand new 125cc scooter christened the Dare, aimed at offering customers a more premium option.
Speaking about their expectations, Pawan Munjal, chairman, Hero MotoCorp said, "After almost two years, the monsoons are going well. This will be very positive for sales, although a full effect of this will come only towards the later half of the year."
With the company’s commuter range performing quite well on their own, the company has now turned its attention to grab a bigger share of the scooter segment. The company currently has a 16.5 per cent share of the scooter market in the country, and it plans to bump this number by two to three per cent by the end of this fiscal. The growing popularity of the Duet and the Maestro Edge coupled with the traction received by the new 125cc scooter should help Hero MotoCorp in its cause.
