Abdul Waheed Tanveer, riding the TVS RTR450, rode to victory at the Pune leg of the MRF MOGRIP National Rally Championship for two wheelers. The rally was held over the last weekend at Velhi near Pune and saw 46 participants starting the three-stage race and fighting in ten categories.
The overall winner, Tanveer, completed the three competitive stages in 57 minutes and 44 seconds almost three minutes ahead of R Natraj, his teammate. Suhail Ahmed, from Ten10Racing, secured overall third after completing the race distance in 1:02:06 hours.
Suhail Ahmed riding a modified Hero Impulse with a Karizma 220cc engine won the Super Sport 260 B. He managed to better the overall timings of the Superbikes Expert Class A led by Vishwas AD (1:08:58) and followed by Yashraj Rathod (1:11:44) and Jeevarathinam J (1:15:55), all being privateers.
The scooter class was led by Yash Mohan Pawar (1:19:01) astride the TVS Jupiter followed by Nilesh Thakare (1:24:09) and Venkatesh Shetty (1:25:18). The ‘Star of Pune’ category was introduced to encourage local riders. While ace mechanic and racer Kishor Jadhav (1:28:46) finished third on his Hero Impulse, Lokesh Bhosale took the trophy followed by Gaurav Premallu.
