Patent drawings leaked by Japanese media hint that Honda might be considering putting the Bulldog concept into production. First showcased over a year ago at the Tokyo Motor Show, the Bulldog was Honda’s take on leisure motorcycling.
The Honda Bulldog’s kinship to the canine breed isn’t restricted just to the name, as Honda had promoted the Bulldog as a ‘lovable touring partner’. Though the front end of the Bulldog concept might trick you into believing you that it is actually a paltry 50cc scooter (the Honda Ruckus), the Bulldog is actually propelled by a 400cc two-cylinder engine.
The patent drawings show that the production model will feature different set of indicators, tail lamp and brakes than the concept. It rides on chunky 15-inch tyres, which along with a low set seat give it a low-slung stance. The front gets twin round headlamps which are protected by a blue crash guard, giving it a robust look. It also features storage space on the sides of the fuel tank, which doubles up as a styling cue.
The Bulldog has been developed as a leisure motorcycle for customers to enjoy the outdoor life. Considering that the Bulldog shares its underpinnings with existing production models, it shouldn’t take Honda long to put this bike into production. Stay tuned to BikeWale for more updates.
