Motorcycle sales in UK continue to grow

Motorcycle sales in United Kingdom continue to grow, with registrations of new vehicles up 17 per cent in January 2016 compared to the same month last year.

The Motorcycle Industry Association is showing big growth in the UK bike market. The biggest growth is in the sport-touring class which is up 30.8 per cent. Next is scooters above 50cc which is up by 27.2 per cent. Closely followed by ‘custom’ bikes, up by 26.7 per cent, and adventure-sport bikes, up 21.9 per cent.

Meanwhile, the sales of mopeds including scooters have dropped by 8 per cent and that of supersport motorcycles have dropped by 4.1 per cent.

In terms of Brand success, 2015 has been BMW Motorrad's best ever year. Sales increased by 22 per cent from 6,959 units in 2014 to 8,487 units in 2015. BMW Motorrad UK sales outperformed the market which grew by 15.8 per cent in 2016.
