TVS Motor Company has clocked a healthy four per cent growth in December 2015 as compared to the corresponding period in 2014. The company sold 2.02 lakh units in the last month, though the jump in Bajaj’s sales numbers saw TVS getting displaced to the fourth spot in the Indian two-wheeler market.
The domestic market helped TVS increase its sales by five per cent, as the manufacturer sold 1.69 lakh units in December 2015 as compared to 1.61 lakh in the corresponding month, last year. Scooters sales increased by an astounding 21.4 per cent, while motorcycle sales recorded a 1.2 per cent growth. The export numbers however, saw a marginal slump as the company shipped off 32,771 units as opposed to the 32,969 units it had managed last year.
It seems like the Hosur-based manufacturer’s demand for commuter motorcycles and scooters is slowly picking up pace. The company’s last few launches like the Star City Plus and the Jupiter have been performing well in the market, helping it boost its overall market share. The company is also planning to strengthen its commuter range by reintroducing the Victor for the Indian and other global markets. The premium and performance segment, on the other hand, is expected to get an impetus with the launch of the Apache 200 as well as TVS’ own version of the BMW G310R.
