EICMA 2015: Hyosung showcases India-bound quarter-litre bikes

Hyosung has showcased its range of entry-level quarter-litre motorcycles at the 2015 EICMA motorcycle show in Milan. Called GD250R and GD250N, these motorcycles are going to be launched in India in the next year.

The Hyosung GD250R and GD250N’s styling is characterised by edgy bodywork and sharp aerodynamic lines. While the GD250R gets a sporty riding position thanks to lowered clip-on handlebars and rear set footpegs, the streetfighter gets a tall straightbar which offers an upright stance. The rear gets a clean look thanks to the underbelly exhaust system and the tapering tail section. The instrument console is made of a single electronic TFT display.

Both the GD250R and the GD250N are underpinned by a steel tubular trellis frame, with a dual sided aluminium swingarm. Both use a 249cc fuel-injected liquid-cooled single-cylinder engine, which packs 27.6bhp and 24Nm of torque. The front suspension is made of 37mm USD forks which the rear gets an offset gas charged mono shock. Both the GD250 models share the same length and wheelbase, though there is a slight difference in height and width of the two motorcycles. The GD250R’s fairing adds five kilograms to the weight of the bike.

Hyosung had announced its intentions of launching the GD250 range in India a while ago. However, it seems like DSK Motowheels’ deal with Benelli seems to have pushed the launch of these new models to 2016. Being single-cylinder motorcycles, we can expect both the GD250N and the GD250R to be significantly cheaper than the twin-cylinder GT 250R. Once launched, the GD250R and the GD250N will compete with the likes of the Honda CBR250R, KTM RC200, Duke 200 and the Mahindra Mojo.
