Ducati is going to update the next-generation Hypermotard and Hyperstrada range with a bigger displacement engine. This has been revealed thanks to the latest emission certificate filings at the California Air Resources Board (CARB), in the US.
While the current Ducati Hypermotard, Hypermotard SP and the Hyperstrada are powered by an 821ccengine, the next generation models will house a new 937cc engine. They will also get a new moniker to reflect this change in displacement, with the documents indicating ‘939’ to be the chosen number. These Hypermotard and Hyperstrada models are just the three of a total of nine updated Ducati models for 2016. Besides these, the Italian manufacturer will also update the 899 Panigale for 2016 with a larger capacity 955cc engine.
While this hike in capacity and subsequently the power output might seem unnecessary and risky, we can safely expect Ducati to up the ante in terms of the electronics. Though these models will be unveiled at the 2015 EICMA Show in Italy, this November, they aren’t expected to hit the showrooms in the US and Europe before March 2016. We can expect them to be launched in India by mid-2016.
