Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L specs and photo leaked

The first legitimate picture and the specification of the Honda Africa CRF1000L have been leaked on the internet. Sourced from Honda’s Portugese website, these details were immediately taken down by the company, but not before they caught the attention of an Africa Twin forum.

Though Honda has been giving us glimpses of the new Africa Twin through ‘True Adventure’ series on YouTube, this is the first time that we are getting a clear look at the adventure bike. Aesthetically, the CRF1000L draws inspiration from the mud-caked ‘True Adventure’ concept and the current CRF line-up. The leaked spec-sheet shows that the Africa Twin packs a 996cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine, which puts out 94bhp and 98Nm of torque.

The engine comes mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed DCT transmission. The DCT unit is offered with two engine mappings, one for the street and the other for off-road use. The Africa Twin rides on 21-inch 90/90-R21 front and 18-inch 150/70 R18 rear tyres. While the standard variant of the Africa Twin weighs 208 kilograms, the ABS and DCT variants add an extra 4 kilograms and 14 kilograms respectively. The fuel tank can accommodate 18.5-litres of fuel.

The Africa Twin CRF1000L will rival other adventure bikes like the BMW R1200GS, KTM 1190 Adventure and the Triumph Tiger Explorer. With all the details now revealed, it is only a matter of when the adventure bike is officially revealed.
