Royal Enfield Himalayan spotted testing again

The Royal Enfield Himalayan has once again been spotted testing in Tamil Nadu. The prototype seems to be in its early days, as it is still missing some basic components like the rear seat and body panels.

Aesthetically, the Himalayan seems to draw inspiration from the Continental GT café racer, because of its old-school fuel tank, round chrome-rimmed headlamp and instrument cluster. However, these components might just be temporary fitments for the prototype and might not make it to the production model.

The rear of the Himalayan, unlike any Royal Enfield model so far, gets a monoshock while the front gets conventional telescopic forks. It is expected to be powered by a newly developed 400cc single-cylinder engine, which might eventually replace the current 350cc mill. Rumours suggest that the engine will be positioned above the Continental GT, with a price tag around the Rs 2.5 lakh mark.
