TVS Srichakra, the tyre unit of TVS Motor Company is developing radial tyres for the motorcycles that will come from the TVS-BMW alliance.
While the company hasn’t revealed much information on these tyres, we believe the company is talking about two different types of radial tyres – front and rear. In order to take advantage of economies of scale and also to keep costs in check, there is a high chance that the upcoming two 300cc motorcycles from the alliance will get these tyres. And not just these bikes, we are expecting all the sub-500 bikes from this joint-venture to share the TVS tyres.
TVS tyres are known to be pretty good for the mass market segment, however, there will be apprehension about them getting into the performance motorcycle segment. It will be interesting to see them compete with the Metzelers and Michelin and if they manage to get the same amount of performance like the competitors, then it would show in the pricing as well.
