Amidst various speculations that Hero MotoCorp might launch the HX250R for the Indian market in November this year, the company has already taken the motorcycle to America! Eric Buell Racing exhibited the Hero HX250R at the AIMExpo in USA hinting that the motorcycle will be sold in the global market as well.
Eric Buell racing (EBR) is an American motorcycle sport company which produces street and racing motorcycles in the US. It is now well-known that Hero MotoCorp has collaborated with the American company to design and develop motorcycles with the help of this association. Hero unveiled the HX250R at the start of this year taking everyone in India by surprise. The quarter-litre motorcycle looks stunning and is the company’s completely new attempt at making a lightweight sports motorcycle.
It is not just the looks that has enticed enthusiasts but the performance figures that the bike can deliver with the help of the newly developed engine and chassis plays a great role. The chassis is a geodesic tubular frame and has the engine as a stressed member. The motorcycle's engine has a highly oversquare bore/stroke ratio that is generally seen on MotoGP motorcycles. This mill gets an 81.0 mm bore, themaximum allowed in MotoGP and 48.5 mm stroke.
This engine is a liquid-cooled 250cc engine that produces 31bhp of power and 26Nm of torque. The HX250R will also feature ABS like its direct competitor- the Honda CBR250. However, the HX250R looks far better with its performance figures, as the CBR250 outputs 26bhp of power and 22.9Nm of torque.
Hero MotoCorp has not confirmed the launch date for the motorcycle yet in either of the countries. We expect the manufacturer to launch the motorcycle in the Indian market at the start of 2015, and then launch it in the global market. When the bike goes on sale in our country it will go up against the Honda CBR250. If priced aggressively, it should definitely give Honda a tough time in this 250cc segment.
