The most affordable motorcycle from Mahindra Two Wheelers, the Arro, has been spied testing on the roads of Pune. While this bike is mainly for the export markets, it could also make its way to India to compete in the ever-increasing mass market segment.
The Mahindra Arro though positioned as an entry-level commuter bike, is equipped with an analog console, flexible blinkers and a body coloured metallic front fender. The company says the five-step adjustable rear shock absorbers make the Arro stronger. The bike also gets a 13.7-litre fuel tank and tubular carrier cum grab rail. Other highlights are the tank pad before an extra-long seat, a bigger round headlamp and a stylish LED tail lamp.
The Arro is powered by the same engine powering the Mahindra Centuro. This 106.7cc engine churns out maximum power of 8.5bhp and peak torque of 8.5Nm. This motor comes mated to a four-speed gearbox. Though the Centuro gets an electric start option, the Arro does not have the electric start facility.
Currently, the Mahindra Arro is being exported to markets like Nigeria, Bangladesh, Kenya, Honduras and Greece. The bike is sold in both variants – spoke wheels and alloy wheels. It will be very interesting to see Mahindra launching the Arro in India because it is the same company who believed in giving the maximum in minimum price with the Centuro. While the Gusto scooter didn’t really take off, the Arro might help the company gain some volumes.
