Mahindra registers 53 per cent drop in two-wheeler sales

Mahindra has registered a staggering 53 per cent drop in overall two-wheelers sales in February 2015, as compared to the same period in 2014.

While Mahindra had delivered 18,553 two-wheelers in February 2014, the Pune-based manufacturer could manage to sell only 8,591 units in the last month. Of these, the company delivered 8,289 two-wheelers in the domestic market, while 302 units were shipped off to Mahindra’s other global markets.

Mahindra’s sales numbers have been falling drastically over the past few months and even its new 110cc scooter, the Gusto, hasn’t turned out to be huge success. While the scooter segment in the Indian two-wheeler industry is growing rapidly, the same cannot be said about Mahindra’s scooter line-up. Mahindra has a very limited presence in the Indian two-wheeler market with a portfolio of just two motorcycles and five scooters and the lack of an image building frontrunner seems to have hit it hard.
