Triumph unveils the 2015 XCx at India Bike Week

Triumph Motorcycles has unveiled the Tiger 800 XCx adventure motorcycle at India Bike Week 2015. The XCx is the newest addition to the iconic British bikemaker’s range and is expected to be launched for the Indian market later this year.

The 2015 XCx is the one of the newer variants of the Triumph 800 Adventure bike that was launched in 2010 and is now in its second generation.  It is the more off-road oriented and hardcore version as compared to the XRX thanks to its 21-inch wire-spoke wheels, off-road ABS and traction control.

It gets a tubular trellis steel frame with a twin-sided cast-aluminum swingarm. The front and rear suspension are WP units with adjustable rebound and compression for the former. At the back there is adjustable preload and rebound damping. Both the front and rear wheels gets discs with switchable ABS.

One of the new features that the ‘x’ variants of the Tiger motorcycle is the presence of cruise control and a two 12-volt power socket to better aid the true purpose of this motorcycle, which is to cruise over long distances. The gauges have also been updated to include average and current fuel consumption.

Powering the 2015 XCx is the Tiger’s 800cc inline three-cylinder engine that produces 94bhp and 79Nm of torque. The mill has been mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. Adding to the strength of this motorcycle is a 19-litre tank.

The XCx has no rivals in this category in India with the Benelli 600GT being the only bike that comes close to this category in India. We expect that this bike will be priced around Rs 14 lakh which means that it will also rival the Kawasaki Versys 1000 in terms of price in India.
