Last year, at the EICMA Show in Italy, Milan, Triumph had unveiled four new versions of its popular adventure model, the Tiger 800. Now, the British manufacturer has announced that two of these four models, the Tiger 800 XRx and XCx, are going to be launched in the UK market on January 29.
While both the Tiger 800 XRx and XCx are mechanically similar to the standard model, they come loaded with technological wizardry to make them more competitive against the likes of BMW F800GS Adventure, MV Agusta Rivale and the Ducati Hypermotard. Both of them are built around the same tall frame from the Tiger and employ a triple-cylinder 800cc engine, which produces 95bhp and 79Nm of torque.
The electronics package on the new models now includes a traction control system and switchable ABS. The engine also gets ride-by-wire for a smoother power delivery and better throttle response. Both the models get a segment-first cruise control and three riding mode settings. The engine has also been tweaked to improve its fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
While the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx will retail at GBP 9,499 (Rs 8.94 lakh), the company hasn’t released pricing details of the more off-road focussed Tiger 800 XCx. We expect Triumph to launch these products in the Indian market, in the second half of this year.
