Hero
Hero MotoCorp is on a spree. After shocking us with five new products a fortnight ago, the company today unveiled their new scooter, the Zir, along with the Dare scooter. At first look, you might think this scooter is not for India but for Europe. But the truth is, there are two versions targeted to each region.
The Zir scooter is powered by a 150cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine that churns out 14bhp at 8,500 rpm and a peak power of 12.7Nm at 7,000rpm. It gets an integrated hydraulic braking sytem, dual projector head lamps, daytime running light, windscreen, LED turn indicators, digital analog console and integrated grab rails. It also gets a smart phone integration system that communicates with EFI for complete details of the engine and riding information. The European design is surely a looker and is sure to gain the attention of the younger generation. The Zir gets 110/90 and 130/70 13 tyres at the front and rear respectively. Kerb weight is 139 kg and 9 litres of fuel can be filled at a go with 2.5 litres in reserve.
Hero MotoCorp will launch this scooter in the first half of 2015-2016 financial year. We expect Zir to become the most expensive scooter once launched in India.
