Indian Motorcyles has officially revealed the 2015 Roadmaster luxury touring motorcycle. Just a few days ago, the existence of the Roadmaster was confirmed by documents which showed the motorcycle passing emission tests in the US. This faired motorcycle revives the moniker which was last seen on the company’s 2009 models.
As speculated, the Roadmaster is quite different from the rest of vintage Indian line-up and will be pitted against more modern cruisers like the Harley-Davidson Electra Glide and the Kawasaki Vulcan. The Roadmaster is a faired and luggage bags laden cruiser with creature comforts like electrically adjustable visor, remote central locking for luggage cases, adjustable floorboards as well as heated seats.
Heated leather seats have 10 individual settings for the rider as well as the pillion. Keyless ignition, ABS, tyre-pressure sensors and LED lights are also a part of the standard kit. Customers will be able to customise the Roadmaster with optional extras like pillion armrests, a heel shifter and chrome racks to strap on even more luggage.
The Roadmaster is powered by the same 111 cubic inch or 1811cc ‘Thunder-Stroke’ V-twin engine producing 139Nm of torque, which is also used in the Chief Classic, Chief Vintage and the Chieftain. Customers can opt for an optional ‘Big Sucker’ intake which improves the cruiser’s performance and throttle response.
The 2015 Indian Roadmaster is expected to make its first public appearance at the next month’s 74th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Prices will start around USD 27,000 (Rs 16.22 lakh) and deliveries are expected to commence in September. Like the rest of the 2015 model line-up the Roadmaster will be available in thunder black, Indian Motorcycle red and a two-tone Indian Motorcycle red/ivory cream paint scheme.
