KTM 390 Duke ABS launched for Rs 1.80 lakh in India

Bajaj Auto has launched the most anticipated motorcycle of the year, the Duke 390 ABS for an introductory price of Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) in India. The KTM 390 Duke ABS is the second KTM motorcycle that will be officially sold in India after the Duke 200. The motorcycle was first unveiled at the 2012 EICMA (Milan Motor Show) in Italy and has been developed to bridge the gap between 200cc and 600cc, a category that is mainly targeted at developing markets like India.

The 390 Duke ABS is powered by a 373cc single-cylinder engine that produces 43.5PS at 9000rpm and 35Nm of torque at 700rpm. The engine is mated to a six-speed gearbox and the motorcycle has a dry weight of just 145kg, offering excellent power to weight ratio of 300PS per tonne. 95 per cent of the components of the Duke 390 ABS are new and very fewer parts are shared with its smaller sibling, the Duke 200. The motorcycle has the capability to do 0-100kmph in 5 to 6 seconds and can reach a top speed of over 160kmph and gets the premium Metzeler tyres for better grip.

The 390 Duke ABS gets the Bosch ABS as standard equipment but has an option to switch it off (which we recommend no to for safety reasons). Cosmetically, the motorcycle looks similar to the Duke 200 except the traditional KTM orange coloured alloys and trellis frame with new decals.

The 390 Duke ABS that has been inspired from the 690 Duke will be manufactured in Bajaj’s Chakan facility. It will be sold across 71 exclusive Pro-Biking dealerships spread across 60 cities. The official bookings will start from tomorrow and the deliveries will follow soon.
