Yamaha India to expand its dealership network

India Yamaha Motor is planning to increase its dealership network from current 400 dealerships to 450 by the end of this year. The company is also planning to increase their customer touch point, a place where customer can get information on their products, from 1200 to 1400.

This development is a part of Yamaha’s major expansion drive. This drive will also include launches of few new products. However, the company has ruled of launching any new motorcycles till 2015 – so these will be additions to their scooters segment.

"We are already in the process of expanding our sales and service network across the country to get closer to our customer base. We are expanding dealer branches and appointing Yamaha Bike corners in rural areas to penetrate these markets,” said Jun Nakata, director (sales and marketing), India Yamaha Motor.

"We currently have close to 400 dealers and 1,200 customer touch points... we plan to increase to 450 dealers and 1,400 touch points by the end of this year," he added. With the new expansion drive, Yamaha India is hoping to increase their market share from the current three percent to 10 per cent by 2016.
