Yamaha Motor India sales for February 2014 see a 32.5 per cent hike in comparison to last year’s. The company sold 42,548 units as compared to 32,097 two-wheelers sold in the same month in 2013.

The company’s growth is mainly due to the addition of new products in the Indian line-up. The manufacturer had earlier announced that they will be concentrating on the scooter market till 2015. This strategy seems to be working well with the company, as sales show a double-digit growth.

Yamaha launched an automatic scooter named Alpha at the Auto Expo. The company claims that the Alpha, which is promoted as a family scooter, has been enjoying a good demand in the Indian market. The products from the existing portfolio like the Yamaha FZ and SZ, the Ray series of scooters and R15 have added to the impressive sales numbers for Yamaha.

Roy Kurian, Vice-president for sales and marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd., said, "This month has been very good for us with a lot of positive developments happening in the industry as well as at the company's front. Our robust results in the domestic market can be attributed to our strong product portfolio including the FZ and SZ series, Ray and Ray Z, and also our new family scooter- 'Alpha', which has been very positively received in the market. We shall continue with our endeavours to delight our customers through many new as well as existing customer engagement programmes."

Yamaha is working on a revised version of the FZ in India which was sighted testing recently. The company might launch the revamped Yamaha FZ soon. What Yamaha fans and enthusiasts in the country are waiting for, is the 250cc motorcycle, the R25. The motorcycle might be launched next year which should not only please the Indian customers but also help the manufacturer to up its sales numbers.
