Why am I reviewing this?

Always try a pair of riding gloves before you buy one. Ranjan was confident about his size and it ended up being one size small for him. So I’ve hijacked his product review because I got the same set of Ixon RS Circuit HP Gloves and it fits me properly. (Bad luck, Ranjan).

How does it perform?

The first thing we should see about the gloves is its comfort. The fit, size and the level of comfort inside are the usual checks. In the case of the RS Circuit HP, all is well. I’ve large hands and that’s why I use the XXL. The overall fit is fantastic. The finger length is good for my size, so is the thumb area. There is enough space left between the tip of my finger and the gloves, which is a must during motorcycle operation, especially while using switchgear.

But the thing I like the most about the Ixon RS Circuit HP gloves is the usability factor. It’s so easy to wear and remove. The wide wrist opening and its light weight made this easy for me. In fact, the RS Circuit HP Gloves are one the lightest ones I’ve ever used. My previous choice was the Ixon RS Pro HP, which was on the heavier and the more expensive side (lasted 18 months). Believe it or not, I like the RS Circuit HP more than my previous ones. Why? It’s cheaper, lighter and offers the same set of protection!

I’ve used these gloves for close to 3000kms and they have managed to stay intact, well, almost! One thread on the left one has come out and that’s about it. The wrist Velcro and the fasteners are working absolutely fantastic. There’s no sign of any quality deterioration on the palm area which gets the maximum abuse. Being racing gloves, the backhand area gets small inserts to cover the joints to my fingers and that somewhat restricts your finger movements. During racing, most of the time the fingers are wrapped around the bar, hence there’s no need of other movements. However, during regular city riding, I tend to ease or relax my hands a bit and the restriction doesn’t help me there.

Can I operate my phone?

Yes. We all have gone through the pain of trying to type a quick SMS to family and friends with the gloves on. And most of the time, we fail terribly. None of the other gloves helped me operate my Mi 5 phone. The RS Circuit HP allows me to even Facebook, thanks to the gloves’ Sensitive Touch System. The leather on the index finger gets a special material that is phone friendly. It lets me type, update my Facebook status and even helped me make some important calls. God Bless that feature!

Test Duration

2 months – 3000kms

Ranjan will share his experience in the next report. Stay tuned!

PS: The Ixon RS Circuit HP Gloves in your usual size might be little too small for you. Make sure you try them on before you buy it.
