About BMW K1600
The K1600 GT adds flair to BMW Motorrad India’s touring range of motorcycles. The K1600 GT like any other BMW two-wheeler is imported through the CBU route by Navnit Motors and is sold through Navnit’s BMW car dealerships. The flagship K1600 GT is not just a grand tourer but is also the most expensive BMW on two wheels sold in India.
The K1600 GT gets a transversely mounted inline six-cylinder 1649cc 24 valve engine producing a maximum of 158bhp and 175Nm of torque. A six-speed gearbox transmits all that power to the rear-wheel through a shaft.
The motorcycle is built on a bridge-type frame made of cast aluminium. The front suspension gets a Motorrad duolever, central spring strut, at the rear it gets a Motorrad paralever (single-sided swing arm) keeping it 146mm above the ground. Stopping power comes from a four-piston caliper biting into two 320mm discs at the front and a single 320mm disc at the rear. It gets 120/70 ZR17 tyre at the front and a 190/55 ZR17 tyre at the rear.
It is 2,324mm long, 1,000mm wide, 1,440mm tall and has a 1,680mm wheelbase. The motorcycle tips the scales at 295kg.
True to its lineage of being a touring motorcycle the K1600 GT comes with a higher-than average tank range of 440km as claimed by the manufacturer. It gets a 24 litre fuel tank with a usable reserve of four litres.
